Protection

Before any actual work begins we begin a project by making sure the area is well protected. We use a wide range of different products to make sure your valuables are free from contamination; heavy cotton sheets for floors, impermeable rubber backed cloth sheeting for large furniture, corrugated plastic sheets for all other remaining areas. We also use special precision tape on all edges, sockets and switches for straight lines. We believe correct preparation amounts to 80% of the work and we never take shortcuts during this phase.

Filling

We make sure all holes, cracks and surface dents are filled correctly prior to applying any coatings. We use grid tape for big holes and cracks for future proof so that they do not re-appear. We have different types of fillers for different surfaces and materials which we have tested ourselves over the years to find the best products for an effective long term solution.

Surface Stains/Priming

Surface stains from damp, moisture and old leaks are primed with damp sealer so that stains do not re-appear after applying coatings. We use priming on old surfaces to reveal all surface damage so we can repair accordingly and on new plaster to achieve a rich colour top coat finish. We also prime all woodworks so that the top coat of paint does not come off over time and to achieve a brilliant finish.

Sanding

Painted glossy or satin finish surfaces are always sanded carefully for proper adhesion. We use specific sand paper for different surfaces such as heavy grade for bad plaster and hard wood to the use of the finest grade sand paper on all surfaces before applying any coatings to remove any imperfections; ultimately achieving a smooth, even and flawless surface. We understand how frustrating it can be to have a perfect wall being spoiled by a single visible eye sore so we take extra care to avoid this from happening.

Paint

Ziggy Decorating recommend the use of high quality paint as we believe the small extra amount of money spent over basic paint goes a long way; providing your space with a more intensive, vibrant and colour rich finish which stays that way for longer due to the higher durability and toughness of the paint properties. Would you run your high end sports car on low grade fuel? We think not, so why get a high end finish using low value paint?

We recommend: Dulux Easy Care, Valspar and Farrow & Ball.

Rollers & Brushes

We believe (like similar to paint) that higher quality brushes and tools make a significant difference in the finish we are striving to achieve. Therefore we use tested and trusted brands such as Purdy, Wooster and Hamilton for our rollers, brushes and accessories.

Wallpaper Hanging

If our project involves laying wallpaper we make sure the customer is aware of exactly the right amount of wallpaper to purchase. Before we begin we make sure the rolls are of the same batch number to avoid complications further down the road. We take great care to prepare the walls just as if we were applying paint as it is equally important for the surfaces to be smooth and even. We apply adhesive glue on both the paper and walls for extra strength so you can be sure the paper is not coming off over time. The greatest artists are said to leave no signs of brushstrokes on their masterpiece, we too try our best to leave no signs of our work, only the final design, perfectly aligned.
